INTENDED USE The Monkeypox and Varicella-Zoster Viruses Real Time PCR Detection Kit is a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test intended for the qualitative detection and differentiation of nucleic acid from monkeypox and varicella-zoster viruses in serum and lesion exudate specimens. The test is intended for use as an aid in the rapid diagnosis of monkeypox and varicella-zoster viruses. Positive results are indicative of monkeypox and varicella-zoster viruses; clinical correlation history and other diagnostic information is necessary to determine infection status. Negative results do not preclude monkeypox and varicella-zoster viruses infection and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis, treatment, or other medical management decisions.
